She was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of the late Charles B. Webber and the late Anna M. Badeau. In Hamilton, she married the late John Harvey Pickett after graduating high school.
Mrs. Pickett was a devoted wife, supporting her husband in his engineering career. They moved to the United States for work early in Mr. Pickett’s career, and lived together in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bloomington, Indiana, and Marco Island, Florida. Mrs. Pickett lived life to the fullest and was widely known for her culinary expertise. She fondly recalled her French cooking lessons, in Boston, from the late Mrs. Julia Child. Her greatest pleasure was entertaining and providing a memorable meal to family and friends.
Mrs. Pickett was preceded in death by her beloved son, COL Alan Bruce Pickett. Those surviving her are her daughter Linda P. Kelley, married to James S. Kelley, MD; her daughter-in-law Irene D. Pickett; four grandchildren - Linda Parnel (Nina) Kelley, Edward J. Kelley, Karen P. Webb, and Alan J. Pickett; and five great grandchildren.
A private family funeral mass and entombment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens, Bloomington, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
