Alice Lenora Owens, 88, of Bloomington, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 7, 2016. She was born on March 17, 1928 in Brown County, IN the daughter of Orville and Effie(Bradley)Wrightsman. She was the 6th of 13 children.
Alice married Gene Owens on December 24, 1946. They were happily married for 66 years. Alice worked at RCA for many years and also was a self-employed seamstress.
Alice is survived by her two sons: Roger(wife Jennifer)Owens and Steve Owens, three grandchildren: Heather(John)Mikulich, Amanda Langley, and Christopher(Michele)Owens; eleven great grandchildren, one brother: Albert(Mary)Wrightsman of North Carolina, four sisters: Imogene Stevens and Velma(Conrad)Callahan of Bloomington; Doris(Charles)Trotter and Mary Brady both of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Eugene, seven brothers: infant Morris Ray Wrightsman, Myron Wrightsman, James Wrightsman, Charles Wrightsman, Orville Wrightsman, Clifford Wrightsman and John Wrightsman.
Visitation for Alice will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN 47401. The funeral service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. also in the funeral home. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
