Obituary of Alice Analie Clay
Alice Analie Clay, August 28, 1926 – September 18, 2013 Analie Clay, 87, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 18, 2013, at her home. She was born in Bloomington, IN on August 28, 1926, the daughter of Samuel Leslie and Nellie (Mercer) Underwood, and attended Bloomington High School. She retired from the Herald-Telephone in December, 1985. Analie loved spending time with her family. Analie is survived by three daughters, Pamela Clay and Connie Shields of Bloomington and Paula Wheeler of Martinsville, four sisters; Nancy Blair, Donna (Wilford) Acuff and Linda (Richard) Needy of Bloomington and Rosalie (John) Stevens of Eldridge, IA, three brothers; Robert Underwood, Charles (Peggy) Underwood and John (Elaine) Underwood of Bloomington, five grandchildren; Julie (Lyle) May, Tom (Margaret) Shields and Danielle (Grant) McCormick of Bloomington, Randy Shields of Bedford and John Vermeulen III of Martinsville, ten great-grandchildren; Brittany and Logan May, AJ and Jordan Shields and Henley McCormick of Bloomington, Rory Shields of Bloomfield, Allee Shields of Bedford and Drake Neideffer of Burns City and one step great-grandson; Grant McCormick Jr. of Greenwood, one great step-granddaughter; Caliana Grubb of Ellettsville and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, one great-grandson, Jacob Shields, one son in-law, Joe Shields, two sisters, Charlotte King and Martha Burns, one brother, William Underwood, three brothers in-law, Howard King, Edward Burns and Robert Blair and one sister in-law, Kathleen Underwood. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 2-6 p.m. in Day Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN 47401. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Steve Baker officiating. Burial in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
