Roberta Jean (Croson) Meihofer, 95, of Bloomington passed away Tuesday August 27, 2024 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal. She was born in St. Louis, MO to Roy and Mary (O’Briant) Croson on September 27, 1928. She married Elmer Charles Meihofer, Jr. on May 26, 1947 and they were happily married for 55 years until Elmer’s passing on December 24, 2002. Together, she and Elmer raised a loving family of seven children.
Roberta worked in the Philadelphia Upper Darby Schools as a principal’s secretary. She was devoted to her faith and currently a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Bloomington, IL.
Roberta is survived by her children: Deborah (Dan) Wikse of Carmel, IN, Kurt (Mary, deceased) Meihofer of Des Plaines, IL, Stephanie Meihofer (Joseph Freedman) of Bloomington, IL, Eric (Terri) Meihofer of Holland, PA, Karl (Man ni) Meihofer of Columbia, SC, Kent (Nancy) Meihofer of Lakeside, MI; one son-in-law, Stanley Ray of Davenport, IA; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; daughter Wendy Ray; three sisters; one brother; and daughter-in-law, Mary Meihofer.
She will be interred at Jefferson Barracks National Veteran Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with her husband at a later date.
