Robert "Bob" D. Stinde

He was born on November 20, 1935, to Orville and Velda Cope Stinde in Saybrook, IL. He married Barbara E. Newberry on July 31, 1959. They were married for 65 years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, two daughters, Kimberly (Mike) Hintz and Karen (Ron) DeLong; three grandchildren, Justin A. (Kayla) DeLong, Sarah (Vince) Toepfer, and Stephanie (Dave) Haviley; three great-grandchildren, Justin J. DeLong, Austin DeLong, and Elliot Toepfer; and two more great-grandchildren on the way. Also surviving are sister, Doreen Sparks; brother, Wayne (Bev) Stinde; brother-in-law, Caroll (Nancy) Newberry; sister-in-law, Marguerite Newberry, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gene Stinde and Marvin Stinde; sisters, Leona Scarbrough and Betty White; brother-in-law, Jerry Newberry.

Bob attended Lexington Grade School and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1953. He was in the Army National Guard. Was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

Bob was a farmer and owner/operator of Stinde Sanitary Service. In his younger years, he loved to trap. Later in life he had a large vegetable garden and loved sharing his vegetables with family and friends. He also enjoyed feeding the squirrels at Miller Park. He as an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved sitting with his great-grand dog, Bella.

His grandchildren were the pride of his life. He attended many baseball, softball, and basketball games, as well as stock car races to cheer for them.

His funeral will be Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at East Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. The family requests those in attendance to dress in casual attire. Interment will be at Dawson Cemetery, Ellsworth.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois or Ellsworth American Legion Post 1244.
