Sorry for your loss. I attended Metcalfe in the early 60s'.  One of my teachers was a Mrs. Jones, whose husband was a Ham Radio operator. This is just part of my casting a wide net in an attempt to contact Mr and Mrs Jones to thank them for introducing me to Ham Radios. If this family is the same one, I would appreciate a contact. Robert (Bob) Marvin Jones - Obituary

He could have danced all night…Bob Jones our father.

Our father passed away at the Meadows of Chenoa in the arms of his family at the age of 90 on Thursday, September 27,2018 at 9:00 pm after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. His wife and kids were present including Betty (Annie) Spahr the love of his life of 68 years and his children. 

His family included his 7 children Roberta Gierhart (Texas), Kathy McMillion (Illinois), Beth Flatt (Texas), Chris Bradford (Illinois), Tom Jones (Illinois), Mary Ruth Willis (Illinois), John Jones (Georgia), 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 

He was born in Beemer, Nebraska June 5th, 1928 and preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Rose Jones and 3 siblings Donald, Gloria and Joseph. 

He graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA. 

On July 29,1950, he married Annie at St. Anthony’s Church in Davenport. 

Over his life he held a number of jobs during his lifetime and also owned the “Jones Janitor Supply”. 

Finally, he retired in 1991 and then he and Annie traveled to many destinations including Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta, The Bahamas and also a Cayman Island dance cruise.

Our dad enjoyed his family, people, music and dancing all his life. He also sang at several of his children’s weddings. Our dad was known for his engaging smile, sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone. He even saved a man’s life once from a burning home.  He loved his dogs, going on picnics, and attending anything with music. 

In remembrance of Bob Jones, the family suggests a donation in his name to the national Alzheimer’s Association, Meadows of Chenoa, IL or the local animal shelter.
