Mary F. “Dolly” Secord, 92, of Bloomington, passed away at 12:45 am on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at her residence.
Dolly was born March 10, 1919 in Decatur, Il to George E. and Viola M. Ernst Vance. She married John “Jack” Secord June 14, 1941 in Bement, Il; he preceded her in death September 25, 2008.
Surviving are two sons Jeff R. (Carol) Secord and Jack V. (Lyn) Secord, both of Bloomington; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, as well as one sister in law, Audra Vance.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Emily Marker-Capes and two brothers George Vance and Noah Noble Vance.
Dolly was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington and attended Illinois State Normal University where she was Homecoming Queen in 1939. In addition to being an avid golfer, Dolly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed sharing their photos and attending their events at any opportunity. She had an amazing ability to remember names, dates and phone numbers. Her outgoing personality engaged her with a wide circle of friends. She was a wonderful, vital person who will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday September 1, 2011 at Second Presbyterian Church, 313 North East St, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday prior to funeral services at the church. A private burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
