Mary Laverne Francis Brewer, 91, passed away on March 18, 2021, at her home in Bloomington. She was born August 30, 1929, in Hudson, Illinois, to Howard and Imo Thompson Francis. Mary married Harold Brewer on November 18, 1949, in Hudson. Harold died on February 11, 2016.
Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, Wallie and Ann Birky Francis.
Survivors include her son, Rick (Donna Andres) Brewer of Delavan, and her daughter, Cheryl Brewer of Bloomington. Mary’s grandchildren include Jeremiah Brewer of Delavan and Jessica (Jeremy) Robertson of Westminster, Colorado.
Mary grew up on a farm in Hudson and graduated from Normal Community High School in 1947. She worked at GE, Montgomery Ward, BroMenn snack bar, and was a cook at ZTA Sorority at Illinois State University.
Mary enjoyed cooking and baking along with craft projects. Harold and Mary liked fishing together.
Mary was a member of the VFW auxiliary, DAR, and the Daughters of 1812. She was a lifelong member of the Hudson United Methodist Church.
Mary’s funeral service will be held at East Lawn Funeral home on Thursday March 25 2021 at 11:30am. It will be preceded by her visitation at 10:30am. Internment will be held at the Hudson Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
Memorials may be given to the Hudson United Methodist Church or to the family to help with funeral expenses.
