Joy was born October 20, 1957 to James L and Patricia (Priller) Parks in Bloomington, IL. She married Ken Dooley November 26, 1988 in Huntsville, Al.
She is survived by her mother, Patricia Bingham of Normal, sons Kevin Dooley of Bolingbrook, IL and Kyle Dooley of Normal, sisters Virginia Gay Gandy of Barbourville, KY and Hope (Gabriel) Montes of Hudson, IL, step-sister Hope Bingham; nephews Caleb Parks, Adam Montes, Matt (Kirsten) Wheeler, nieces Michelle (Matt) Cantway, Amanda Wheeler; great niece and nephew Lilly and Ryan Cantway; and her beloved dog Izzy.
She graduated from NCHS and from USM and then received a Master’s Degree from Illinois State in Speech and Language. She enjoyed many years as a Speech Pathologist working with young children in public school settings. She was always excited about learning new methods and techniques in speech pathology she could apply to the children she helped.
As her children grew she was an avid attendee of youth sports activities in baseball, hockey and soccer that they participated in. She was also involved in school activities and member of PTO organizations. She had a love of animals, especially the several cocker spaniels she had over the years. She enjoyed travel with her children to the beach, Disneyworld and especially home for the holidays to be with family.
Family and friends are invited to a visiting hour Thursday January 30, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington followed by a memorial service.
