Esther was born April 9, 1926 in Bloomington, the daughter of William George and Alice Morgan Waltz. She married Clifford Crawford on May 16, 1948, in which they shared 49 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are their children, Peggy (David) Cornelius of Danville; Daniel (Marion) Crawford of Avon, Indiana; Rebecca Decker of Peoria; and Julie (Brian) Smith of Black Mountain, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; Rachel Cornelius of Danville; Jeff (Betsy) Cornelius of West Chester, Pennsylvania; Sarah Crawford of Kentucky; Lawrence (Marijo) Decker of San Diego, California; Steven Decker of Boston, Massachusetts; Timothy Cornelius of West Lafayette, Indiana; Teresa Decker of Bloomington; Aaron (Sarah) Crawford of Michigan; Nathan (Amanda) Cornelius of Indianapolis, Indiana; Erika Decker of Seattle, Washington; and Ruth Crawford of Avon, Indiana; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a grandson, Joshua Crawford.
Esther graduated from Bloomington High School in 1942. After graduation, she worked at Schlitz Hardware Store in Bloomington for six years as a bookkeeper. Later in life, she was employed by Bloomington Tractor Company for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as traveling, quilting, crocheting and gardening.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared with the family at eastlawn-bloomington.com.
