Edward John Fredrick Fetzer passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday August 29, 2013. He was born at Pleasant Plains, IL the son of Edward John Fredrick Fetzer Sr. and Louise (Hagen) Fetzer April 21, 1921.
He attended Trinity Lutheran School, Springfield, IL and graduate from Pleasant Plains High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1942 and served in the European Theatre with a total of 75 missions, earning the Pre-Pearl Harbor Medal, the European Theatre Medal, the Victory Medal and the Silver and Bronze Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He left the service in 1946 with the rank of Captain.
He married Constance E. Roos in 1946 and celebrated their 67th Anniversary on August 25, 2013.
In 1985 he retired as a crop hail adjuster with American States Insurance Company and moved from their Ottawa residence to St. Germain WI in 1985. They moved to Bloomington in 1996 and he passed away at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle, IL where he was a resident for the past two years.
He is survived by his son E. Ronald (Marcia) Fetzer of Bloomington and daughter Carole (Chuck) Bolatto of Marseilles, IL; grandchildren: Amanda (Dan) Fischer and Mark (Kristal) Fetzer of Bloomington and Chad Bolatto of Marseilles and Callie (Michael) Dunbar of Morris; great-granchildren are Lauren and Paige Fischer and Conner Fetzer all of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Elouise Fetzer Taylor and Helen Fetzer Abney.
Services will be Saturday August 31, 2013 with the visitation from 10am until the 11am service at Christ Lutheran Church 311 Hershey Rd Normal, IL. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Mark, Chad, Dan and Michael.
