Blake Michael Henderson

July 31,1975-March 31, 2017

Blake Michael Henderson, 41, of Groveland, passed away March 31, 2017 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Facility from a short & courageous battle with colon cancer.

He was born at OSF Medical Center in Peoria on July 31, 1975 to his parents, Michael L. & Maggie A. (Thompson) Henderson.

Blake was a 1993 graduate of Groveland Township High School, after graduating he joined the IBEW Local 51 out of Springfield & started his career in the line industry. After working as a Groundsman for 11 months, he was able to begin his 4 year apprenticeship to become a Journeyman Lineman. After completing the apprenticeship, he started working for CILCO (Ameren Illinois) & worked up until December of 2016 after 23 years in the industry.

Blake married his high school sweetheart, Amber (Livingston) in August of 1994.

In 1996, Blake & Amber welcomed their baby girl, Sara.

Blake's hobbies & interests included having a good time. He loved grilling out, having an ice cold beverage, fishing, camping, riding dirt bikes & 4 wheelers, playing in bag tournaments & enjoying time with family. He had a special place in his heart for the line industry & enjoyed his work life very much. Blake was a great role model & showed Amber & Sara the meaning of hard work. He was very dedicated to his family & work.

Blake is survived by wife, Amber; daughter, Sara; parents; 2 siblings, David Henderson (Becky) of Peoria & Julie (Patrick) Lancaster of Metamora; numerous nieces & nephews.

The family asks that you join them for a Memorial Party on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 at Remmert Funeral Home, 521 Washington Street, East Peoria to celebrate Blake's life. We ask that everyone honor Blake's wishes by coming dressed in casual & comfortable clothes. Please be prepared to have a toast with the family & engage in some of Blake's favorite activities.
