Mary Barriga Bailey

Mary grew up with her parents, her father was a Pacific Electric employee and her mother was a maid. Despite being a child of Mexican immigrants during the Great Depression and racial discrimination, she overcame many hardships.

Mary was an interpreter for the federal government during the 1980s Cuban refugee operation. She then became a nurse at the Boonville clinic in Boonville, Arkansas. She moved back to California and became a medical assistant for Kaiser Permanente, where she worked for 34 years until she was 79 years old. She did not slow down after retirement, she became the commander for the San Bernardino County sheriffs citizen patrol unit at the Fontana substation. Mary attended the Holy name of Jesus Catholic Church in Redlands, California, where she was the head usher until the Covid pandemic.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Rafaela, her husband Robert and her children Ramona, Rosemary, Robert, Joe, Virginia and grandson Joey.

Mary is survived by her son Don and her nephew Douglas, her daughters Patricia (her husband Joseph and their four sons Joseph, Drew, Ryan, Robert and daughter Kim, great grandson Kaleb), daughter Kathryn (her partner Mari and their son Tristan) and Pam (husband Joe). She also is survived by her grandchildren Jerrie, Aaron, Raymond, Jackie and Trenton.

Her great grandchildren Evan, Zane, Grant and Bryce.

She will be greatly missed by all.
