Larry Leland Baker returned to his Heavenly home surrounded by his family on July 8, 2023. Larry was born in Los Angeles, California to Wilfred Emmett and Alice Yvonne (Benoit) Baker. After graduating from Wilson High School in Long Beach, Larry joined the United States Coast Guard and served from 1955 to 1959. On July 22, 1961, Larry married Mary Juanita Peck in Fontana, California. Larry worked for Kaiser Steel for 25 years and was able to retire at the age of 45. After his retirement he attended Chaffey College where he received a degree in air conditioning and refrigeration repair and shortly after started his own business, Baker Heating and Air. His son Joe proudly took the reins after Larry’s 2nd retirement. Larry was exceptionally proud to see the Baker Heating and Air van still driving down the road today. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Baker. Larry leaves behind a family who loved him immensely: his wife, Mary; daughter, Claudette Baker Hansmann of Banning; son, Joe (Diane Taylor) of Fontana; daughter, Susan Otte (Keith) of Moreno Valley; grandchildren: Joey Baker, Shane Baker, Brittany Baker, Jeffrey Baker, Emma Otte, Benjamin Otte and Alexis Baker, and his Uncle, Bob Baker, as well as many nieces and nephews. Larry also leaves behind many loving friends and his best four- legged friend, Charlie. Larry and Mary would have celebrated 62 years of marriage this month. Although they will not be celebrating their anniversary together, we take comfort knowing that they along with the rest of his family will see him again. The viewing will take place at Green Acres Memorial Park 11715 Cedar Avenue in Bloomington, California on Wednesday, July 26th from 4:30pm-6pm; eulogy/stories from 6pm-7pm and rosary from 7pm-8pm. A mass in his honor will be held at St. Bernadine’s Catholic church 531 N F St, San Bernardino CA on July 27th at 12 pm followed by a Graveside service at Green Acres Memorial Park. Immediately after the graveside service family and friends are invited to a luncheon being held at Ramrod Mobile Home Park 1010 Terrace Rd, San Bernardino CA 92410.
