Joseph Annicchiarico “Uncle Joe”, 91, passed away on Saturday, April 15th at Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge. He resided in Newark for many years before moving to Nutley 20 years ago. He was a truck driver for Galsworthy Trucking and Central Transport Co. for many years. Joe was a member of the Belleville Ave. Italian American Club. His enjoyment was to fly and was very proud to have a private pilot’s license. He also loved to travel and looked forward to enjoying a wonderful meal at his favorite restaurant “The Belmont”. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 and was a Fireman First Class on the USS Harry F. Bauer DM-26 in World War II. He received the American Theater Medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal Three Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
Arrangements are by the Zarro Funeral Home, 145 Harrison St., Bloomfield. ( www.zarrofuneral home.net). Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Kindly be at the funeral home on Thursday, by 9:30am prior to the mass at 11:00am at St. Lucy’s Church, Newark. The burial will be at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. Joe is survived by his son, Ron Annicchiarico and his wife, Chris, grandchildren, Melinda and Mark and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Filomena and Vito, son Joseph Jr., and siblings, Nicholas, Julie Alberti and Angelo.
