SMITH, VIRGINIA ANN, age 84 of Birmingham, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Pauline Lawson; and brothers, James Lawson and Dr. William Lawson. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bennie G. Smith; sons, Grayson Smith (Barbara) and Zeke Smith (Darlene); brother, Victor Lawson (Jan); grandchildren, Brooke Rhodes (Chris), Laura Phillips (Derek), Drew Smith (Megan), Heather Turner (Andrew) and Lindsey Smith; great-grandson, Chandler Rhodes; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. Ann was a longstanding member of First Baptist Church of Roebuck Plaza. She enjoyed singing in the choir and her love of children lead her to teach Sunday School and work with the youth. She enjoyed time at the lake with her family and traveling with Bennie. Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 1-2 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with her service beginning at 2:00.
