It's almost impossible to put into words the legacy of a woman with such a long, fulfilled life. Anyone who ever met her knows her worth to her friends and family is immeasurable. However, it is her worth to this world which cannot go without marking for posterity. She was one of those rare perfect Southern Belles with the perfect mix of being a leader and being a servant to others. Her faith was beyond reproach, and her love evident to anyone that ever came near. So, when most people tell anecdotes and reminisce about their personal time with their loved one that has gone, Virginia’s legacy to this world is just as important and as far reaching. She was the wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, companion, mentor, and role model for anyone that needed it. This world has lost one of God’s best and most loyal soldiers. We will never know how many lives have been saved due to her love and guidance. We will never know how many lives have been helped due to her gracious Christian life to show as a model. We don’t grieve for what our family has lost – we had a long, blessed time learning from her and sharing with her. We grieve for the world, for it has lost one of the brightest lights for the Lord we have ever known. If there is one thing she would want to come from her funeral, it would be for anyone here who does not know the Lord, to please see this as a way to Him.
A visitation for Virginia will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately in Elmwood Cemetery.
