Thomas Washington Ray Jr.

RAY, JR., THOMAS WASHINGTON, age 100, of Vestavia Hills, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 13, 2024. Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Bellmore Ray, his parents Thomas W. Ray, Sr. and Bertie Lou Farris Ray and his sister, Eleanor Ray Harrison.

T.W. cherished his family, friends and time spent at his homes in Vestavia Hills and on Smith Lake. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School. He attended Birmingham Southern College and was a founding member of Theta Chi Fraternity, Beta Xi, Class of 1942. T.W. was also a longtime Mason for the past 72 years. In his younger years he worked for T.C.I. and then Brungart Equipment as a General Manager until he retired.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sister, Dillie Ray Culberson, daughters, Linda (Don) Kimbrough and Dillie (Billy) Mize; five grandchildren, Kim (Peter) Braasch, Brad (Audra) Mize, Tim (Kristie) Kimbrough, Scott (Monica) Mize, and Audrey (Chad) Daniel; thirteen great-grandchildren, Nathan Turner, Owen Kimbrough, Olivia Kimbrough, Bailey Mize, Billy Mize, Henry Mize, Caitlin Braasch, Austin Braasch, Madison Daniel, Emily Daniel, Caroline Daniel, Vincent Malone , Jake Malone; and four great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on December 17, 2024 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel at 1:00pm with funeral services including Masonic service at 2:00pm. Graveside service to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
