CUSHMAN, THOMAS H., age 76, of Clay, left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 30, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born February 17, 1937 in Tarrant City, AL. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Arrabelle Cushman; sisters, Maxine Pickens and Patsy Vann; brother, James Edward Cushman; stepson, Jason C. Perkins; his beloved son, Jay T. Cushman; and grandson, Zachary Greenway. Tommy is survived by his wife, Debbie Phipps Cushman; son, Joseph Cushman (Tracy); daughters, Catherine Sims (David) and Allison Greenway (Neal); nine beautiful grandchildren, Sydney, Dave, Danny, Chandler, Sheldon, Bethany, Brittany, Austin and Addison; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Harrison; sisters, Margaret Washburn and Jaime Kirkland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tommy grew up in Tarrant City and was devoted to the community where he served on many of the communities boards. He was a lifetime member of Rock United Methodist Church. After serving in the U.S. Air Force with the 117th Tac Recon, he spent most of his career in the insurance business and later he and Debbie were the owners and operators of Bourbon Street Club until his health forced his retirement. Tommy’s 2 passions were playing golf and Alabama Football. Tommy will be missed by all that knew him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his nurse, Tammy with Alacare Home Health and to the nurses, Cathy and Tara for their loving care of Tommy while in the Alacare Home Hospice program. His family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 12:30-2 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. His service will begin in the chapel at 2 with Bro. Chris Crane officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
