Mr. Carmack was born on November 30, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama, to his parents Thomas and Georgia Eloise. He married Ramona Thomason in 1988. After working in the Army National Guard, he worked as a welder in the Jim Walter Coal Mines Central Shop for many years. Upon retirement, he opened up his own welding shop.
His life was dedicated to family and serving God as a deacon in The Church at Grants Mill, formerly First Baptist Church of Irondale. He is well remembered by family and friends as a witness for the Lord everywhere he went. He was also well known for his sense of humor and relentless teasing. Mr. Carmack held great interest in civil war history and collected related artifacts. He also loved his antique 1946 GMC truck.
Mr. Carmack is survived by his wife, Ramona; daughters, Holly (Stan) and Kelly; six grandchildren, Brandii, Alec, Jack, Corey, Livie, and Bella; mother-in-law, Freida Thomason; and two nieces, Tina and Summer; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas, Sr.; mother Eloise; brothers, Felix and Ray; and daughter, Jamie.
Visitation will be held at 12:30 on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at The Church at Grants Mill, 6000 Old Leeds Rd, Irondale, AL 35210, followed by a funeral service at 1:30. Burial will be at Branchville Cemetery in Odenville, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Church at Grants Mill in memory of Tom.
