Ruby Jo Crider

Ruby Crider, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 28, 2021. She was born on June 10, 1930 in Ashland, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Crider. She is survived by: Son David M. Crider of Cropwell, AL, Grandson Michael D. Crider (Rachael) of Gulf Shores, AL and great grandson Owen M. Crider. Ruby grew up in Ashland, AL on a farm with 7 siblings (5 sisters and 2 brothers). Ruby often shared fond memories of her childhood and grew up very close to her parents and siblings. Once graduating high school, Ruby moved to the city to start a career in the business world. Her first job was a clerk at shoe store in downtown Birmingham. Within only a year of moving Ruby noticed a tall young man that would always catch her eye when she went to work. At some point the young man, Buddy Crider, worked up the courage to introduce him self and they apparently hit it off. They were married within just 6 months after meeting and would remain soulmates until Buddy’s death in 1996. At various points in her life Ruby enjoyed basketball, running/ walking, working in the yard on her roses and flowers, being outdoors, going to the beach, great food and restaurants and most of all just spending time with her loved ones.

A visitation for Ruby will be held Friday, December 31, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 35211. Following the visitation will be a a celebration of life from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, AL 35211.
