Robert L Jones

Robert Lamott Jones went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He has been married to Shirley Ann Slaton of West Blocton, Alabama for 56 years. He has three sons Barry Alan Jones (wife Lisa, daughter Connor, son Hayden) of Memphis , Tennessee; Eric Bentley Jones (wife Karen, son Michael, daughters Rachel and Kelly) of Birmingham, Alabama; and Todd Andrew Jones (wife Shelley, children Samantha, Andrew, and Kyndal) of Odenville, Alabama. Robert was predeceased by his parents Daniel Mathias and Magnolia Chaney Jones; his sister Margie Jones Bentley; his brother Byron Harold Jones all of Birmingham.

His schooling included Ensley High School and he was a proud graduate of and lifelong supporter of the University of Alabama, class of 1957. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He entered the Navy on 6/25/1951 and served honorably through 5/19/1955 and was a member of the Navy Reserve from 5/19/1955 through 6/24/1959. Robert worked for U. S. Steel for 33 years in the sales department of Railroad Products in both Memphis and Birmingham from 1959 through 1992. He was a devoted and active member of the Huffman United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Saturday February 20, 2016 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon in Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
