Robert Lewis Edwards was born in June 23, 1927 in Birmingham, AL and died on October 24, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents Viola Wages Edwards and Ernest Edwards; brothers, Ralph and Roy Edwards, and his dedicated wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Edwards. He is survived by his three daughters, Jackie (Melvin) Rohling, Barbara (Jim) McReynolds, and Jerry (Gene) Dennis; 4 grandchildren, Brian (Meredith) Rohling, Karen (Patrick) Campbell, Jan (Michael) Lawley, and Beth Larson; 9 great-grandchildren. Robert was retired from the United States Postal Service with 38 years of service. He also proudly served his country during World War II as a Seaman in the USCG Merchant Marines. The love of his country, family, and living at Logan Martin Lake were his greatest joys. He was a member of Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10 AM with a visitation from 9 AM until 10 AM Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church, Trussville, AL. Father Bill Lucas will officiate the Mass. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church Building Fund or Trussville First United Methodist Church Building Fund. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Birmingham East Nursing and Rehab Center for the care of Robert the last two years, and to all extended family and friends for their prayers, cards, and visits during his illness.
