Bob was born in Sewanee, Tennessee to Azalee Wilkerson and Martin Earl Conry on May 5, 1929. He graduated from Ensley High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction from Auburn University. He received a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He served his country during the Korean War as a Marine. He was a dedicated employee of Southern Company Services for over 35 years. Bob was a member of Vestavia United Methodist Church.
Bob was a wonderful father and a devoted grandfather spending many joyful hours attending soccer games and practices, helping with lemonade stands, playing checkers and dispensing invaluable advice. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and they were devoted to him.
He was married to Margaret Miller Conry (Peggy) for over 63 years. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family and they will remember him as a truly good and kind man.
Bob is survived by his wife Peggy, two children: Robert Martin (Toni) and Ann Margaret Conry Giles (Greg) and five grandchildren: Rachel Conry, Lindsey Conry Blackmon (Jonathan), Ben Conry, Grace Giles and Gregory Giles and one great-grandchild, James Rowe Blackmon. A private family graveside service will be held.
