It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, Richard (Dick E) Ernest Hawkins, of Beverly Hills, Florida. He left us surrounded by his loving children on October 8, 2024, at the age of 74. Dick E was known for his kind, loving, giving heart, and a great devotion to his family. He could light up any room with his smile, was quick to make a friend, and cherished every moment he spent with those he loved. Dick E died of complications from an emergency surgery to repair an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Dick E was born to Sara Stewart & Richard Clarence Hawkins on January 29, 1950, in Huntington, West Virginia, and is survived by his children Joy Hawkins Dill (Greg) of Vestavia, AL, Heather Hawkins Hill, her children, Braxton and Harper of Helena, AL, Brandon Stewart Hawkins (Kellie) their daughter, Mary Stewart of Irondale, AL, Michael Shawn Clemons his children, Shawn, Jr. and Shay of Orange Beach, AL, Tami Clemons Akin (Scott) their children Noah, Taylor and Laura Katherine of Vestavia, AL, Nicole Clemons Noles (Patrick) their daughter Natalie of Mountain Brook, AL. The love of his life Teresa Trammel Hawkins of Birmingham, AL and his sister, Caryl Jean Hawkins of Leeds, AL.
Dick E attended Banks High School and Jacksonville State University. He was self-employed for most of his adult life in sales and later clothing manufacturing. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, 2-5pm at Courtyard 280 Grill, 4683 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any contributions in his memory be made to Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome Americas Association (the global advocacy organization dedicated to his granddaughter Natalie’s rare genetic disease). https://agsaa.org/donate
