Born Feb. 12, 1943, she was born at Carraway Methodist in Birmingham Alabama. She went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2023.
Her early education was at Rutledge, and she was a 1960 graduate of Hueytown High School. She married the love of her life Cecil Earl Jackson Jr. in April 1962.
Mary Nell loved the Lord and her church. She was a member of the Pinson United Methodist Church for 47 years, where she taught adult and youth Sunday School. Mary Nell was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Monday Morning Pray Group. She was the Office Manager at Ear Nose and Throat Clinic for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Earl Jackson Jr.; parents, H.R. and Esther Sanders; and great friend, Eugene Fitzgerald Jr. Mary Nell is survived by her sons, Todd Hyle Jackson (Melissa), Trussville, Alabama, and Cecil Earl Jackson III (Mary), Auburn, Alabama; siblings, Thelma Jean Starkey, Hueytown, Alabama, Mellie Pearl Hargett, Hueytown, Alabama, and William Hyle Sanders Wilsonville, Alabama; grandchildren, Thomas Cecil Jackson, Russ Long (Katie), Elizabeth Long (Jason), Denver, Colorado, favorite grand-dogs, Ellie Mae Jackson, Toby Jackson; and honorary daughter, Julia Rudd.
The family would like to thank the great staff of Arbor Lake Health and Rehab, Compassus Hospice of Auburn, Kirkwood By the River for the excellent care provided to our mom, grandmother, and sister.

The visitation will be Monday, February 6, 2023 from 1 pm until 2 pm in the chapel of Johns Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. A service will follow at 2 pm concluding with burial at Birmingham’s historic Elmwood Cemetery in block 38.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Todd Jackson, Earl Jackson, Thomas Jackson, Ken Starkey, Jay Hargett, and Bill Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be, Don Starkey, John Starkey, Bill Turner, Bob Howell, Tom Berry, and Greg Hargett.
