CORNELIUS, MARY ELIZABETH HOBBS, age 88 of Tarrant, went to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles L. Cornelius, Sr.; son, Charles L. “Chip” Cornelius, Jr. (Karen); daughter, Lynne Cornelius Means (Roger); sister, Sarah Moore; grandchildren, Carlee Elizabeth Means Green (Jason), Coleman K. Cornelius and Charles W. Cornelius; great-grandchildren, Amelia “Millie” Scott Green and Nathan “Nate” Lee Green; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 1 sister. Mary was born and raised in Walker’s Chapel, AL. She lived most of her adult life in Tarrant where she was a longtime member of Rock United Methodist Church and supported her husband in the grocery business. Mary was a wonderful cook and made the best coconut cake. Her family will celebrate her life with visitation on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 12-2 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with her service beginning at 2:00. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
