Mary, affectionately known to her friends as "Punk" and Aunt Merrill to her nieces and nephews, graduated from Phillips High School in 1960. She retired from Bellsouth in 1990. Punk was loved by all who knew her and considered her friends to be extended family. She was a life-long, die hard Auburn fan, who loved to go to the games. She loved to travel, especially European cruises, but cruising on the riverboats were her favorite. She loved to dance, and danced with the Magic City Boppers. Mary was heavily involved in many service organizations and was a member of the Eastern Star.
"Tomorrow the sky will be blue, the sun will be very orange. That's how she will ask God to make it so that we know she was received with open arms into the hands of our Father."
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 2PM at Elmwood Cemetery. A memorial service is scheduled on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Elmwood Chapel Funeral home at 2 PM to honor and celebrate Mary's life.
