Lee Wayne Wayne Ash

Lee Wayne Ash passed away in Birmingham on October 31,2012. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Merry Ash of Irondale, AL, his son and daughter-in-law, Roumley and Barbara Ash of Pelham, AL, his daughter and son-in-law, Barbaree Ash Duke and John Duke Jr.of Covington, LA and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that he loved dearly. He has one grandson, Roman Patrick Ash of Pelham, AL, and one great granddaughter, Jazmine Elise Summerlin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Coggin Ash and his parents, Frank and Katherine Ash.

Wayne was born and raised in the Birmingham area. He was a veteran of the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. He was a loving father and great friend to all he met. Most days you would find Wayne helping folks at Bluff Park Hardware store with his loyal dog, Tigger or under the hood of a car tinkering. Neither one of them ever met a stranger. The family hopes you will get out and "Do a Wayne" - be kind to the stranger that needs their car jumped, give a friend a loan because they're down on their luck, love your family like there's no tomorrow, hang in there like a rusty fish hook when life gets tough and enjoy living with a belly laugh!

Visitation will be Friday, November 2, beginning at 1:00 pm until service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery where military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity in his honor.
