Larry Davis Hays

Larry Davis Hays, 75, of Birmingham, passed away on September 3, 2022. He was a loved and respected husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many, and he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna, to whom he was married for 55 and 1/2 years. Larry served with honor in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army. He also served his community through many years of leadership in coaching youth baseball and teaching Royal Ambassadors. Most importantly, Larry came to Christ at the age of 16, and was a member of First Baptist Gardendale. His love for Christ and his family were expressed daily, which is one of the many things that will be missed about him.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Nadine (Jackie) Hays; his brother, Stoney Hays; his grandchildren Shelby Hays and Tucker Hays. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his sons Scott Hays (Nicole), Brandon Hays (Stephanie), and Dane Hays (Amanda); his grandchildren Haley, Morgan, Brody, Blake, Urban, Virginia, Boston, and Mary Catherine; his sister Alice Marcum (Ed); multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Public visitation will be held at Ridouts Trussville Chapel on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM, and a chapel service will be held there at 11:00 AM with a graveside service to follow.
