Kilby Lee Yerby of Birmingham, Al. passed away peacefully January 7, 2018 at the age of 98. He is survived by his sons Sam (Virginia) and Danny (Sabrina); his grandchildren Lisa and Lee; one great grandson, Benjamin; a sister Sarah Alice Cooper and brother JO Yerby; numerous nieces and nephews. Affectionately known as K.L., he was born on August 31, 1919 in Walnut Grove, Lamar County, AL.. He proudly served in the Army Armored Tank Division during WWII. He ran his own accounting business for over 50 years. He often said he never had clients, just friends. K.L. was a devoted father and husband to his wife of 64 years, Olivia, until her passing in 2003. He was a member of Irondale Methodist Church and was very proud of his community efforts. He earned lifetime memberships in the Alabama Association of Public Accountants, the Alabama Sheriff Boys and Girls Ranches Builders Club and the Woodlawn Loins Club, where he spent 20 years as Sight Chairman. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with visitation from 10-11 and service at 11. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations to be sent to The Freewill Baptist Children’s Home of Alabama 86 Academy Drive Eldridge, AL 35554.
