John Ronny Brewis

John Ronny Brewis, 85, of Alabaster Alabama went to be with the Lord at his home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, December 9, 2022. Ronny, as called by his friends and family, was born in Birmingham AL to Francis (Patterson) and Alexander Brewis. He graduated from Phillips High School, served in the United States Coast Guard and retired from Alabama Power. He learned to love working with plants and flowers from his first wife and the mother of his children, Nancy Rebecca Folden Brewis who preceded him in 1973. His second wife, Peggy Ann Segars Brewis, helped him continue to raise his children and celebrate almost 50 years of marriage before she preceded him in death last year. Ronny was a lifelong follower of the United Methodist Church of Alabaster. After retiring from Alabama Power, he kept busy with odd jobs and volunteer work. He was known for his banana pudding among his church friends, chocolate chips among his grandchildren and macaroni and cheese at all Brewis gatherings.

His smile, laugh and wisdom will be truly missed.

Ronny leaves to cherish his memory two brothers Lyn Brewis and Bobby (Linda) Brewis; children, Ronda (Blair) Chandler and Mike (Dana) Brewis; grandchildren, Seth and Sydney Chandler and Karstin, Kensley, Camryn and Collyn Brewis.

There will be a visitation at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, AL. 35211 on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 10:00am-11:00am followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am in Elmwood Cemetery located at 600 Martin Luther King Dr. SW Birmingham, AL. 35211.
