from Phillips High School and received the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Education degrees
from Samford University.
He taught music in the public schools for 26 years, and then taught voice and piano at Magic City Music
Academy for many years.
He was music director for a number of churches before becoming a staff singer and soloist at First
Presbyterian for two years, First United Methodist for 15 years, and the Cathedral Church of the Advent for 19
years. He was a member at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church. He sang with the choir at Temple
Emanu-el for 33 years.
He performed in musical theater with First Stage Players, Town and Gown, and Summerfest.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Cecil and Tina Douglas, Harry and Rose Hamilton, his
parents Burney and Ann Douglas, his brother Ronald U. Douglas, and sister Rose Ann Douglas McClure.
He is survived by his sister Leslie Jean Douglas Thompson and husband Ronald, by his sister-in-law
Gladys Douglas, brother-in-law Ken McClure, six nieces, three great nephews, one great niece, friends
that he loved as his own children Richard Jacks, David Hunter, Jr., Alan Taylor, Calvin Coleman; and a
host of other dear friends.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 15th 2pm at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church or The Episcopal Diocese of
Alabama.
