Helen Sue Teague

Helen Sue Crabtree Teague passed away on July 14,2022 at the age of 98 years young. She resided at the Veteran's Home in Pell City since 2014. Sue was born in New Brockton, Alabama on January 12, 1924 to Ruby and Horace Crabtree.

Sue graduated from West End High School in Birmingham and served fourteen months in the U.S. Navy W.A.V.E.S. during World War II. She retired from CSX Transportation after 33 years. She was an avid craftsperson, having won many blue ribbons and two Best Of Show ribbons for her quilts. While living at the Veteran's Home, she made 12 bed size quilts, many wheelchair pouches and patriotic bibs for the Veterans as well as helping to mend their clothes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert Teague Sr., son Robert West, siblings Nell, Jack, Dorothea, Ruby Frances, Jean, Joan and step-daughter Diane, step- grandchild Billy Carl.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Denise, step-son Billy,10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, especially Randy and his wife Paula. Who were her caregivers.

Sue requests that NO flowers be sent to her funeral or graveside, but to instead make a donation to one's favorite charity of choice.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 35211 A funeral service for Helen will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM after visitation. The services will be officiated by Rev. Paul Brasher
