Frances Goodwin Stone Powell, age 98 passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Largo, FL after a short illness. Frances was born to Benjamin and Frances Goodwin on LaFollette, TN. She attended Shades Valley High, was Grand Matron in the Eastern Star in Powderly, and owned and worked in Stone Grocery with her husband. She was an excellent seamstress, loved collecting coins and working with her flowers. She is preceded in death by her husbands: Philip A. Stone and Fred Powell. Survivors include her daughters: Shirley Stone Shaw, Linda Stone Keith, Annette Stone McDuff and Janette Stone (Messer) Clark by her first marriage and by Barbara Gail Powell Stone, Evelyn Powell Canant, and Winfred Powell by her second marriage. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, Birmingham, AL.
