Frances Lake, of Vestavia, AL passed away on February 9, 2023, lived most of her life in Birmingham, AL; 6 years in Georgia; 6 years in Florida. Preceded in death by her parents, Boman and Eula Webber, brothers, Bo (Betty) and Norman (Jeanne); Horace Raymond, husband of 22 years and father of her 2 children, Lori and Guy; Jim Carrell, husband of 25 years; and Mel Lake, husband of 7 years; nephew, Kenny Webber and nephew, Eddie Webber.
Survived by her son, Guy Raymond (Dolores); daughter, Lori McManus (Rick); 5 grandchildren, Clark (Kristi) Raymond, Emily (Richard) Powell, Abbey (Chris) Booker, Dalton (Amy) McManus, Hunter McManus; sister-in-law, Jeanne Webber; 4 nephews, Mike, Blake and Brian Webber and Eddie Raymond; nieces, Bonnie Robinson and Lynda Williams; 9 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
Retired from Communication Workers of America after almost 27 years, serving as Confidential and Secretary II. Worked at Alabama Power in Industrial Power Sales, Lamson and Sessions Company as Sales Secretary, John W. Gallbraith and Flintridge Corporations as Secretary, Whitmire, Bynum, and Coleman as Legal Secretary, First Baptist Church of Birmingham as Music Minister’s Secretary, Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church as Office Secretary. Worked second job as an Interior Designer for over 23 years, beginning with Suite Dreams. Helped organize 78 West Business and Professional Women’s Club with 66 Charter Members serving as secretary and President. Helped organize Highland Meadows Homeowner’s Association serving as Secretary-Treasurer the first 2 years. Retired member of Office and Professional Employees International Union. Member of Sandusky First Baptist Church, then a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church and then Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian, where her brothers were Elders. She loved the Lord, life, family, people and the opportunity to serve. Her family was the light of her life.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 13, at 2:30pm at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. A visitation will be held from 1pm until 2:30pm, and burial will follow the service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.
