E. Keith Williams peacefully entered eternity on Thursday, December 26, 2019. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 26, 1927. He is survived by his bride of 66 years, Maxine Ellenberger Williams.
Keith was a graduate of Ensley High School and the University of Alabama. He was the 1st person hired in Alabama in TV broadcasting and worked in the television industry for 45 years, beginning at Channel 13, WAFM-TV and 43 years with WBRC-Channel 6 (1951-1994).
Keith was a charter member of the Exchange Club of Highlands, Downtown Club, and Green Valley Country Club and served as president of the City Salesman Club (Emeritus), Jefferson County University of Alabama Alumni Association (Emeritus), Birmingham Advertising Club (Federation) and Birmingham Chamber of Commerce (Life time member).
Keith was a loyal member of South Highland Presbyterian Church since 1950. He served as a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir for 65 years where he and Maxine met. They were co-founders of the Builder’s Sunday School Class. Keith was passionate about life. He was a faithful member of the Monday morning prayer group, City Salesman Club, Community Bible Study, Bama Lunch Bunch, Thursday Morning Bible Study, The Has Beens and many more. He loved Alabama football, good music, and mostly his friends and family.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Maxine E. Williams, children Mary Enfield Williams Branch (Craig), Christopher Keith Williams (Robyn), Katherine Anne (Kitty) Williams Hester (Jeff) and Kimberly Sue Williams, nine grand-children, ten great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Memorial Service to be held Sunday, January 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM at South Highland Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Radio Ministry at South Highland Presbyterian Church or a charitable ministry of your choice.
