Ed was born in South Carolina on December 27, 1928. Ed enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a retired machinist and a veteran of the United States Army. Ed was a collector of many things. He was a cowboy at heart and lived in Texas for several years. He enjoyed old westerns, but his true passion was music and dancing. He belonged to many dance clubs over the years. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, Texas Two Step, swing,jazz, as well as square dancing.
Ed is survived by his sons, Ray Allen (Kim), Eddie Allen, Lynn Allen (Melanie); his grandsons, Matthew Allen, Ronald Allen, Zachary Allen; granddaughters, Kayla Allen, Lynsey Banks (Jon); and his great-grandchildren, Eli & Tristan Allen, Mason Allen, Victor Allen, and Grace & Peyton Dawson.
He is preceded in death by his parents,Ernest Francis Allen, Sr. and Jessie Marion Allen; his brothers, Raymond W. Allen, Ernest F. Allen, Jr (Spiz), and Harold Clifton Allen; his son, Ronald Eugene Allen (Jacquelyn); and his granddaughters, Renee Allen and Shaylyn G. Dawson.
A visitation for Ed will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
