She is also survived by 23 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews including her special nephew, Jay (Lynette) Cotton of Lay Lake and special niece Sheryl (Terry) Martin of Kimberly. Nell was the world's best wife and mother but the title she was most known by is "Nanny". She was not only Nanny to her family but to all that met her. She had a gift of making everyone feel important and that you knew her your whole life.
A few of Nanny's favorite things:
1. God: She loved her Precious Heavenly Father with all of her heart. She read her Bible daily and journaled 5 things she was thankful for everyday. She was a member of Deerfoot Church of Christ.
2. Her Family: She loved being with them, taking care of them, and making memories with them.
3. Laundry: She loved to wash, fold, and iron clothes.
4.Cook: She was a born homemaker, she loved to bake cakes, and make big meals for her family to enjoy.
5.Travel: She enjoyed visiting family in different states as well as going to new places. She used to take her family to Florida on vacation every year, and she was always up for an adventure.
6.Shopping: She loved grocery shopping and could walk the aisles for hours.
7. Hair: She had the most beautiful hair and had a standing appointment every other Thu at 11:30. It was a running joke in our family you better not be on the road at 11 or be prepared to get out of her way.
8.Southwest Airlines: She had seven family members at SWA so she was adopted as the "Nanny" of the BHM station. She was even awarded an "Honorary Southwest Employee" plaque by the employees at the station.
9: Music: She loved Praise and Worship music as well as country, especially George Strait. Pawpaw would play her "Somewhere my Love" on his harmonica.
Nanny was the epitome of a Southern Lady. Every morning she would be dressed in full make-up, ironed outfit, and matching jewelry even if she was only going to be at home for the day. She was full of Grace and Love. Her irreplaceable spirit will never be forgotten. While it is heartbreaking to let her go, we are rejoicing in knowing she is being reunited in Heaven with Pawpaw and they are dancing together once again. A special thank you to Richard Harp, Jordan Gray, and the members of Deerfoot Church of Christ for all of their loving friendships. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation in her honor the family request a donation to Breast Cancer Research
