Douglas Norman Moore was born December 19, 1982 and passed away January 4, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father Donald H. Moore and grandparents, Ben and Ruby Mitchell and Frank and Dora Meek, and is survived by his wife, Katherine Moore; his mother, Delores Moore; his brother, Grant Moore and his daughter Rebecca Moore.
Douglas was employed by Jefferson County Environmental Services but when he was home, he spent his time enjoying life, doing the things he loved, like fishing crappie on Lake Purdy and picking banjo in the bluegrass scene. He also had a love for gardening and was known for the tomatoes and peppers he grew to create his signature salsas and hot sauces. Doug also liked to grill and loved to smoke ribs and chicken and anything else he could find.
His friends and family remember his as a fun-loving, outgoing man who, even at a young age, had the spark of an entrepreneur because Doug never met a stranger and could make friends with anyone he came across. Most importantly, Doug loved his wife and travelling partner, Katherine, his daughter Rebecca and all of his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 23rd, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 513 Columbiana Rd, Homewood, AL 35209. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Doug’s name at www.jdrf.org or by calling 1-800-533-2873.
