Dot was an English major at Auburn University, where she minored in theater, appearing in many campus productions and competing in speech/debate.
Dot appeared in On the Town with Fannie Flagg at the Town and Gown Theatre in Birmingham and was a popular Brownie Scout and Girl Scout leader in North Little Rock, AR and in Birmingham. She was also active in WBHM radio reading for the blind.
She worked as a medical secretary for The American Cancer Society and for Cooper Green Hospital.
Dot was a consummate wordsmith and poet and writing was her passion. She loved bestowing unique gifts on her many friends.
Dot was a member of McElwain Baptist Church
She is survived by her daughter Susana, her son, James Randolph Jr. (Randy), her granddaughter Kristen and preceded in death by her brother John, her son Russell and her former husband James R. Moore.
A memorial service is planned for 1:30pm Dec.28 at McElwain Baptist Church, Birmingham.
