David was born on January, 14, 1971 to Donald Samson Holmes and Betty Marie Holmes in Birmingham, Alabama. He worked in industrial maintenance before he retired, a job he both loved and excelled at. In 2008, he met the absolute love of his life Riza Holmes. Together, they raised three children, Dakota Holmes (19) Sadye Holmes (15) and Nevaeh Holmes(12). He also had two older daughters that he loved and adored Brandi Christine Bass(28) (Cody Bass) of Hull, Georgia and Karen Marie Holmes(25) of Oneonta, AL. He also had four beautiful grandbabies, Sophia Hudgins, Annabelle Hudgins, Brantley Bass and Mallory Bass all from Hull, Georgia.
David had a passion for life. He was a very God fearing man. He read the Bible daily & preached his love for the Lord. He taught his family everything he could and knew about the Bible. It was his favorite thing to talk about. He loved traveling and exploring new places. He loved trying new food, his most recent favorite being parmesan chicken cutlets, however, he really loved his soul food, cheeseburgers, "Riza's Bop", banana pudding and spaghetti. He loved to hunt with his father Don and his brothers & loved to fish for hours with his family. He loved to take his RV and family to cool RV spots he found all over the country & find the most beautiful lakes & rivers and hiking trails. He loved to fix and build things. He loved his wife’s cooking and used to compare everything to it. He loved music, singing and dancing around with his family. He loved to bbq and take road trips. He loved watching movies and binge watching shows, with his wife, his best friend. Together, they would drink coffee which he loved so much and watch both the sunset and rise, his two favorite parts of the day. He was a joker and a prankster, always full of jokes, funny faces and expressions and wanting to crack a smile with his family and friends. He will fondly be remembered for buying masks on Halloween, just to scare his family and friends all year round.
David was such a loyal and honest person. He was such a lover. He loved to snuggle, hug, and kiss and doted on his family with all the affection and compliments he possibly could. He absolutely loved his dog Molly, who he called Woobear, he was a lover of all animals, always stating he loved all of God's creations. He had a passion for gardening, always tending it with care, always wanting to teach his children his skills. He taught them everything he could. His zest for life is going to be truly missed. David was super nurturing, so loving, very goofy and kind to everyone he met, greeting them with a smile as if they were his best friend. He didn’t have a mean bone in him. He will forever be his family’s angel and will forever be missed. As he said, every day, we will LOVE him for "Forever and Eternity."
