Carol D. Johnson, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Arlene Duerr; daughter, Kelly Sherrill and her brother Doug Duerr. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, David Johnson; children, Chad Johnson (Melissa), Karis Gillespie (Rick) and Chris Johnson (Kathryn); grandchildren, Jake Sayer, Alex Sherill, Taylor Sherill, Marin Gillespie, Cole Gillespie and Noah Johnson and other relatives and friends. She was active with the youth at First United Methodist Church in Centerpoint and the Boy Scouts of America and served as Cub Master and a Scout Master and was Wood Badge trained and served on their staff where she received numerous awards. She received the Cross and Flame religious emblem, District Award of Merit and the Dave Johnson scouting award, as well as the Silver Beaver Award. She was involved in many activities and events at Erwin high school. Carol was a fantastic cook and often helped cook with the Civitans. She and her husband Dave served meals at the Jimmie Hale mission for 10 years. She also leaves her beloved 100-pound yellow lab named Maggie and her two cats, Little Man and Momma. She will truly be missed by all who knew her and loved her. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home with a Celebration of Carol’s life following at 2:00 PM. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
