Bonnie Brown McGlaun

Bonnie Brown McGlaun, 83, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 19, 2021. She was born on October 30, 1937 to James Walter Brown and Valera Whatley Brown. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Kenneth McGlaun, Sr.; daughter Vicky Yvonne McGlaun Ferguson; parents; siblings, Aleene Brown Ogletree, Gordon Brown, Edlene Brown Ballard, and Edward Lee Brown. She is survived by her children, Tony McGlaun (Janice), Ken McGlaun (Brenda), and Lisa O'Neill; grandchildren that she adopted and raised after her daughter, Vicky passed away, Lynn McGlaun Cleghorn (Greg), Brandon McGlaun, and Lena Ferguson Walker (Randy); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Nyoka Creager; many nieces, nephews, and special friends, Jewell Stough, Helen Kohn, Alma Cruse, and Janice Dicks.

Bonnie loved her family with all her heart. She was tough as nails on the outside but had a heart of gold and was always willing to help in any way she could. She loved to cook, collecting teddy bears and dolls, and gardening. She is famous for her biscuits, buttermilk pies, cornbread, and most especially her chocolate cakes.

She came to faith a little later in life, but she loved the Lord and studied her Bible daily. She was a long time member of Pine Level Baptist Church, where she served in different outreach ministries. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. But we know that she is with family that have gone on before her and most especially her daughter and husband of 63 years and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

The family wishes to send many thanks to the nurses, doctors, and hospital administrators at Jackson Hospital for their kindness and care. With special thanks to Daneen. And her Amedysis Hospice team for their amazing care both physically and spiritually.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, 200 Moore Rd, Pine Level, AL 36065, at 10 am, with a graveside service to follow.
