Billie was known for her outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. She ran the Smolian-Friendship House for 25 years where she enjoyed greeting new people and was said to have never met a stranger. Billie loved her family and adored her two granddaughters, Laura and Natalie. She was a proud grandmother and ready to show them off any chance that she had. Billie also loved to garden when she was able, often keeping a beautiful array of Hydrangeas and Azaleas but her favorite flower was Red Roses.
Billie is preceded in death by her husband, Jacob (Jack) Fliegel and son, Stewart Fliegel. She is survived by her son, Michael (Terri) Fliegel; daughter-in-law, Susan (Stewart) Fliegel; brother, H.W. (Weltha Jean) Coffer; sister, Mary Franchek; and grand-daughters, Laura and Natalie Fliegel.
Visitation services for Billie C. Fliegel will be held at Johns-Ridout’s Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, Monday, November 18, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM with graveside service, officiated by Mary Beth Poor, to follow at Elmwood Cemetery at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Mountaintop Community Church, 225 Centerview Dr, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216.
