Betty Francis Holcomb Tucker

85, passed away June 17, 2017 at her home in Pinson after a prolonged illness. She was surrounded by family. Mrs. Tucker was born May 1, 1932, in Birmingham, AL. She graduated from Springville High School, where she met her husband, Paul Tucker, the love of her life. Mr. and Mrs. Tucker married in 1951 and spent 66 wonderful years together. Mrs. Tucker has four daughters, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Pinson First Baptist Church and worked for Birmingham Ornamental Iron Co. for three decades. In retirement, Mrs. Tucker enjoyed camping with family at Lake Guntersville, maintaining a fresh garden and playing Old Maid with her grandchildren. She will be remembered by them for her warmth, her care and the way she loved. Mrs. Tucker is preceded in death by her parents, John Franklin Holcomb and Bessie Mae Holcomb; sisters, Martha Terry, Linda Kelley, and Vera Holcomb who died in infancy. She is survived by her husband, Paul Lewis Tucker; children Judy Ledbetter (Ronnie), Carol Wadsworth (Cliff), Paula Johnson (Donnie) and Cheryl Palmore (Carl); grandchildren, Keith Wadsworth (Melisa), Wes Johnson (Shannon), Brock Wadsworth (Christen), Mark Wadsworth (Shannon), Laura Gaddy (Jonathan), David Palmore, Shane Ledbetter, and Dana Fortenberry (Jason); 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Johnnie Atchison; and numerous family and friends. Services for Mrs. Tucker will be at 11:00 on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with Bro. Gary Fisher and Bro. David Awtrey officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM. The family would like to extend special thanks to St. Vincent's and Care First hospices for their support and generosity. Mother was a kind and gentle person who was loved by all who were blessed to know her.
