She was preceded in death by her parents; Osmond Bridges and Pernie Alberta Bridges, husband; Spurgeon Smith and brothers; Alton Bridges and JT Bridges. She is survived by her daughters; Karen Daigle of Attalla, AL., Kathy Pratt of Vestavia Hills, Al., and a son; Larry Smith of McCalla, Al., six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She graduated from Fairfield High School, worked at JC Penney's and was a transcriber for a court reporter. She married Spurgeon Smith on August 4, 1956 in Lowndes County Mississippi and was a member of Tannehill Valley Baptist Church.
She devoted her life to Christ and raised her children and grandchildren and was a Sunday School teacher for decades. She was a giving person by donating to many charities and her church. Her son, Larry, made it a point to try to make her laugh everyday and of course her friends, Ann Nations and Rita Streety. She loved her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved babies and crocheting baby blankets reading the Bible every night and listening to Elvis Presley and singing gospel music.
Faith can get you through anything and the best things in life aren't things. She did not worship material things but worshipped God and was dedicated to her church and her family.
