Anne is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie Dobson (Tim) and Laurie Scogin; her sister Gwenn Freeman (John) of Ocala, Florida; three grandchildren: Katy Walker (Aaron), Jimmy Dobson and Alex Dobson and one great-grandson, Atlas Walker. She was predeceased by her husband James H Scogin Jr.
Anne was born on March 7, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Phillips High School and went on to attend Auburn University then Samford University where she graduated in 1969 with a degree in Mathematics.
Anne married her husband Jim in 1967. They had two daughters, Stephanie and Laurie.
Anne was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She cared deeply for her family, her church and her community and spent many hours donating her time and talents to those in need. She donated platelets twice per month for nearly 20 years. Through Threads of Love, she knitted items for premature and stillborn babies. Anne was a lifelong Methodist and taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Children’s Church for many years. In her community she served as a scout leader and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Anne looked forward to the Fall as she closely followed anything and all things Auburn. She loved family gatherings (especially if Trivial Pursuit was involved), her Women’s Sunday School Class Heart Sisters and her church family at Avondale UMC.
Anne’s family is grateful to all the loving caregivers that supported Anne in her final days and to Compassus Hospice Care for their support of the whole family.
A memorial service for Anne is scheduled for 2:00 Saturday, August 20,, 2022 at Avondale United Methodist Church preceded by visitation at 1:00.
