Joan Sybil Boorman, 91, of Beverly Hills, Florida passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 in the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. She was born in London, England to Douglas and Mary (Mobb) Ford. Joan grew up in Brighton, England and was raised by her aunt since, her mother died when she was very young. Joan was in the women's British Civil Defense during WWII. She was of the Catholic faith, enjoyed camping, dancing, painting in oils, sewing and crafts. She liked to teach her grandchildren card games. Joan was a waitress in the Seattle area for many years and moved to this area from, Ocean Shores, Washington over four years ago.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth Robert Boorman in 2007.
Survivors include her daughter, Maxine T. Scarborough and husband David of Beverly Hills, Florida; son, Donald E. Boorman and wife Peggy of Salem, Oregon; grandchildren, Michael D. Scarborough and wife Lisa of Bremerton, WA, Kathrine L. Wiley of Floral City, Florida, Ronald P. Scarborough of Crossville, TN, Nicholas Boorman of Michigan, Christopher Boorman of Salem, Oregon and great grandchildren, Michael A. Scarborough of Clearwater, FL, Andrew D. Scarborough of Bremerton, WA, Mallorie R. Scarborough of Bremerton, WA, Brandy M. Rendell of Homosassa, FL, Russell D. Rendell of Floral City, FL and Shane Boorman of Michigan.
Joan will be greatly missed by her children, family and friends.
Visitation, Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home. Joan will be buried with her husband at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, Florida or the American Lung Association.
