After a 14-month very courageous battle with esophageal cancer, Doug passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 23rd with me (Sue) and daughter
Sheri holding his hands. He was a truly wonderful man, most loving husband and father, my absolute best friend and soul mate. He had an extremely gifted mind
for engineering anything mechanical and successfully made biodiesel fuel for our trucks for years. He loved the Lord and his church, Yankeetown Community Church, sang in the choir and was the narrator for the Easter and Christmas cantatas.
I cannot thank our church family, friends and neighbors for all their cards, prayers and offers to help us throughout his illness. I especially want to thank our daughter, Sheri, her fianceée Edward, our favorite son-in-law Dann and his daughter Margaret for being there for us to the very end no matter how hard and heartbreaking it became.
A Celebration of Life for Doug will be held at Yankeetown Community Church in Yankeetown on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 11 am with a catered luncheon to follow in the church hall.
If you wish to send a memorial contribution In his memory, you may do so to either Haven Hospice at 311 NE 9th St., Chiefland, FL 32626 or Yankeetown Community Church, c/o Dan & Janet Burnham, missionaries, 4640 Hwy. 40 West, Yankeetown, FL 34498.
